Hepatobiliary Surgery A subspecialty of general surgery focused on surgical treatment of diseases of the liver, bile duct, and gall bladder.
Pancreas Surgery An area of general surgery that is focused on diseases of the pancreas, distal common bile duct and duodenum (first part of the small intestine). The pancreas is a fish-shaped gland that stretches in the back of the abdomen, behind the stomach. It has two main functions: an exocrine function responsible for secretion of enzymes that facilitates digestion of food and nutrients and an endocrine function responsible for secretion of various hormones such as insulin.
